Beautiful days.

We have had some beautiful weather lately and Lulu has had fun taking advantage of it with mommy and daddy.  Here are the most recent pictures of our adventures.  Lulu really likes to wear her workout gear when she goes out for walks with mommy and daddy.  That way she feels like she’s part of the action.

Lulu also had fun at a recent picnic where she tried out her protective sun gear.  Bring on the summer!!

Lulu’s busy weekend.

Lulu had a busy weekend.  On Friday we went to mommy & me pilates.  She enjoyed it again (and so did mom)!  On Saturday, Lulu and mommy went shopping while daddy got a haircut, and then we all had lunch out.  Saturday night grandma and grandpa came over to babysit.  Then on Sunday, Lulu went to church and went on a walk with mommy & daddy.  The weather was beautiful and Lulu enjoyed some excellent people watching.  All in all, it was an great weekend.

Lulu does pilates.

Lulu went to her first mommy & me pilates class.  She enjoyed it a lot.  She especially liked watching mommy do core work and tried to copy the moves by lifting her legs while mommy was doing the same thing.  Lulu’s abs are much stronger than they look.  Lulu also liked being mommy’s 11 lb. weight during the leg work; it was lots of fun to be lifted up and down with the other babies.  Phew, what a workout!

Fun with friends.

Lulu has had a lot of fun with her friends over the past few weeks.  Lulu loves her carseat and is always ready for a road (or air) trip.   In fact, her carseat is one of her favorite spots.  In the past few weeks, Lulu visited with her friends Maddie, Dylan and Andrew and had a great time.  Lulu loves hanging out with her friends.

Lulu’s First Easter

Lulu had her first Easter today and the Easter Bunny and her auntie and grandmas were very generous.  She enjoyed looking at her new toys, especially the “Gloworm.”  There is something about a toy that lights up and plays soft music that she cannot resist.  Thankfully, the Gloworm is not as obnoxious as some of the other “musical” toys that she enjoys.

Happy Easter!

Spring in San Francisco

Today Lulu went out for a walk with Mom in the morning.  Even though its 80 degrees in most of the country, it was a chilly 50 degrees and drizzly for our walk this morning.  As a result, Lulu was appropriately bundled up.

When we were in Arizona a few weeks ago, the weather was much more agreeable.  In fact, Lulu was even able to wear some of her summer clothes.

Something tells me that Lulu’s summer clothes won’t see the light of day again until September, unless we travel out of the city.

The Ultimate Hand-Me-Downs

True classics withstand the test of time.

Lulu is wearing a dress and sweater that were mine when I was a baby.  Somehow my mom was able to preserve them perfectly – she apparently missed her calling as a museum archivist.  I plan to use her methods so that Lulu can some day let her daughter wear the same outfit.  These are definitely the ultimate hand-me-downs.

Best. Mobile. Ever.

Hands down, the “Infant Stim Mobile” is the best mobile ever.  When I pulled it out of the box, I thought that I had just spent $28 on a big piece of junk.  After all, I could have put something similar together with some fishing line, a few index cards and some felt tip markers.  Nevertheless, this one of the best investments we made (right after the $19 light fixture from Ikea).  I love it because it is not annoying in any way; it does not light up, play music, squeak or crinkle.  And, she loves it for reasons we will never understand.  All I can say is that every morning she spends at least a half hour quietly looking at the Stim Mobile and cooing. In addition, if she ever “melts down” we take her to the mobile and it calms her down when all else fails.  We got ours at Giggle (www.giggle.com), but I’m sure they are sold at other chains.  If you are reading this and have a baby, you must order one pronto.  At the very least, give it as a gift at the next baby shower you attend.

The past twelve weeks. . . .

Lulu was born December 30, 2009 at 2:30 p.m.  She was 7 pounds 9.4 ounces and 21.5 inches long.  She arrived home on New Year’s Day 2010.

The first couple nights were a little rough, but Lulu quickly adapted to her new surroundings.  In those first weeks at home, she especially liked staring at the light in her room while laying in her crib or on her changing table.  She also enjoyed going on walks with mom and dad and meeting all of her grandparents.

As the weeks have progressed, Lulu has become more and more inquisitive.  She now likes spending time under her activity “gym,” looking at her dinosaur art cards, and having mom and dad read books to her.  “Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb” is currently her favorite book, followed closely by “Go Dogs Go” and “The Cat in The Hat.”

Lulu has proven that she likes adventure.  She visited Monterey and Carmel just three weeks after she arrived, and Lulu took her first plane ride on March 18th when mom and dad took her to Tempe, Arizona to visit dad’s old roommate and his family.  She seemed to enjoy the trip and we have high hopes that she will be quite the traveler.  Her next trip already planned for Memorial Day weekend.
