You’d better sit down for this. . . .

Lulu is almost 5 1/2 months old and learning how to sit.  To learn this important skill, Lulu has really enjoyed sitting in her “Bumbo” chair.  Its great for putting her in the right sitting position – it really works those abs – and it allows Lulu to get a new perspective on her world.  The Bumbo has a tray so Lulu can play with her toys easily and it mimics a highchair so mommy can feed her a little rice cereal.  I have heard some people complain that their little ones try to jump out of the Bumbo because it doesn’t have a seatbelt.  That hasn’t been a problem for us yet and hopefully by the time she wants to jump out of the Bumbo she will have already learned how to sit without it.

Union Street Festival

Lulu had a good time at the Union Street Festival this year.  It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of people out on the street, so Lulu took refuge in Gamine restaurant where mommy and daddy enjoyed lunch and a couple glasses of wine.  Gamine was fun for Lulu because a few friends joined us and Lulu loves being social.  She “talked” up a storm and even took a nap on daddy.  Unfortunately, mommy and daddy didn’t get to look at the festival booths so we may have to go back again today.

Lulu’s Trip To Grandma & Grandpa W’s House

Lulu took a trip to Grandma & Grandpa W’s house over Memorial Day weekend.  She had a fabulous time meeting her great grandma and great grandpa, aunts and uncles, and cousins.  She also enjoyed getting a tour of Daddy’s hometown.

This was Lulu’s third airplane ride and she was very happy.  On Friday night we took the red-eye and Lulu slept in her carseat the whole way to Grandma & Grandpa’s house.  When we arrived, Lulu got to meet Daddy’s friend Brandon.  Later that afternoon, Lulu’s auntie Kylie and cousin McKenzie came to visit.

Great Grandma B.

On Sunday, Lulu had fun relaxing with mommy and daddy at grandma’s house.  That evening the whole family came over for a BBQ and Lulu got to meet her great grandparents, aunts, uncles and all 11 cousins.   Lulu had fun meeting everyone and watching Daddy play basketball.  Thankfully, Lulu avoided getting any mosquito bites thanks to California Baby bug spray (mommy should have used some, too)!

On Monday, Lulu had fun at a BBQ at Auntie Kylie’s house.  Lulu got to hang out with Grandpa M’s side of the family.  On the way home, Lulu got to see her first thunder and lightening storm.  She seemed relatively unphased.

On Tuesday, Grandpa M. took Lulu out to lunch at the lake and later the whole family when to watch Lulu’s counsin’s softball game.  Lulu took her first ride on a swing with mommy and got lots of time with her cousins.   Overall it was a great trip and Lulu can’t wait to visit again at Christmas.

Lulu’s Top Ten Travel Tips

10.  For flights longer than one hour, get Lulu her own seat.

9.  Make friends with the flight attendants.  That way, when Lulu makes a mess while you are changing her a flight attendant can get you another diaper.

8.  Bring an extra bottle for the plane.  You never know when you will need it.

7.  Take a red-eye.  Lulu will sleep the whole flight.

6.  Use the pacifier for take off and landing.  That way Lulu’s ears won’t get clogged up.

5.  Bring toys and books for the plane but pack light.  Lulu can’t carry her own bags yet.

4.  Remember to keep a change of clothes in your diaper bag at all times.

3.  Bring Lulu’s carseat.  The rental carseat broke when we were trying to install it.

2.  Bring Lulu’s crib sheet, noise machine and video monitor.  They are not bulky and they make the trip so much easier.

1.  SHIP DIAPERS, WIPES, FORMULA, ETC. FROM DIAPERS.COM TO YOUR DESTINATION.  Why carry all of those bulky items?

Happy travels!
